Who?

Who is Afropunk?

Afropunk is a community of Black creatives who come together to embrace the richness that is Black culture. Through music, style and food they showcase that they too are art and create a welcoming environment for all to be themselves shamelessly and wholeheartedly.

To further understand exactly who Afropunk are they break it down on their site as follows:

          “Afro: as in, born of African spirit and heritage; see also black (not always), see also rhythm   and color, see also other, see also underdog.

          Punk: as in, rebel, opposing the simple route, imbued with a DIY ethic, looking forward with simplicity, rawness and open curiosity; see also other, see also underdog.”

What is Afropunk?

Afropunk is an annual festival that celebrates blackness in its entirety. It’s a collection of artists, filmmakers, photographers, models and entrepreneurs who freely express themselves by way of different mediums. Afropunk allows for black men and woman alike to create their own atmosphere through the empowerment of their individual identity.

When is Afropunk?

Afropunk Brooklyn is from August 26- August 27.

Why?

Why should I go?

Two days of non-stop food and fun, why wouldn’t you go? Everyone loves food and everyone defintiely likes to have a good time. Plus, what better way to end the summer than at Afropunk, vibing out to good music by great artists with cool people.

How much do the tickets cost?

The tickets range from $55 to $150 with the option to attend one or both days. It's not too late to purchase your tickets, there are still a few left. You can purchase them on Afropunk’s site here.
