After 2 years of not releasing music, Kelela’s debut album is finally here! Released earlier this month, Take Me Apart is a 14-track piece of blissful and mystical art. On the album, Kelela takes us on a journey of gaining, losing, and rekindling love. The album’s lead single “LMK,” shows what happens when eyes lock, it is a complete ode to what simple fun with someone is, nothing more. The entire album goes deeper than that though. On its second single “Waitin,” Kelela sings of the feeling you get when running into a past lover and on one of the record’s most personal tracks “Bluff,” she lets out and makes known all the love she’s ready to give. This album is the complete package of mystical R&B that often goes overlooked in today’s music scene. It's a project that will definitely open the ears of new listeners around the world.

In addition to releasing her new album, Kelela recently hit up BBC Radio 1’s Piano Sessions to bring us a live version of her song “Waitin”. Not only did she bring us the live version of her song but this beauty also covered a timeless classic from the legendary Sade. Kelela did a surprise piano session covering Sade's magnificent tune “Like A Tattoo,” and we must say, it was beautifully executed. With a haunting vibe and alluring melody, Kelela dazzlingly put her own twist on the tune. The only recorded live version of the original by Sade was during her live show in 1993 at the SDSU Open Air Theatre in San Diego. You can check out the original live performance by Sade and Kelela’s cover to it below. Get into their angelic voices!
