Chazwick “Chaz” Bundick is a man of many talents (writer, singer, producer), and has blessed us yet again with a new project under his iconic stage name, Toro y Moi. His new album titled “Boo Boo” which was released on July 7th became his 6th studio album under the Moi name. This new project not only showcases Chaz’s ability to create groovy love songs, but also is a combination of his seamless production style from his previous bodies of work.

Chaz released his first album under the name Toro y Moi in 2010 with the project "Causers of This” followed by “Underneath the Pine” and “June 2009” releasing in 2011 and 2012 respectively. These first three albums branded Moi with a sound of smooth guitars and drumbeats while he provided dreamy vocals over the productions. At the time, his sound was mostly attractive to the younger indie crowd of people seeking love, mellow highs, and solidarity in their music. Moi would also pair these songs with visual music videos that matched an 80’s laidback lifestyle that he continues to use even today.

In 2013 Chaz released his 4th album “Anything In Return”. This album became his most acclaimed and most popular project to date. After branding a sound of mellow 80’s style tunes, Chaz decided to change the entire production style for this project. By getting rid of guitar riffs and adding an electronic sound box, “Anything In Return” was created under unique circumstances. The album was filled with more dance/funk tunes but still carried a story of love and heartbreak like in his earlier work. The track Say That went on to become one of Moi’s most well-known tracks and even propelled his career to higher heights within the music industry. “Anything In Return” went on to become Moi’s highest charting album, charting at number 60 on the billboard hot 200.

Now, after releasing his last full length album “What For?” in 2015, “Boo Boo” is finally here and it’s filled with nothing but summer love anthems. The lead single Girl Like You gives an electronic vibe like most of the tracks from “Anything In Return” while tracks like Embarcadero and Inside My Head give old school funk vibes like his first three albums did. All in all, “Boo Boo” not only contains songs that we can all relate to, but it's also a gift showcasing the many talents of Chaz Bundick himself.
